Devon furniture maker Edward Wild creates handmade bespoke furniture from his North Devon workshop. Trained in the traditions of English fine furniture making, Edward’s work combines skilled craftsmanship with a clean contemporary style.
Edward Wild Furniture was founded in 2010 by Edward Wild; Member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and winner of the Wesley-Barrell Craft Awards for Furniture 2014.
His work is exhibited throughout the UK, including at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen; Bovey Tracey and in The Burton Art Gallery; Bideford, where Edward’s 2014 Award winning piece, The Hall Table will be on show through early 2015.
His work has grown in popularity creating a strong following throughout the UK and as far and wide as Finland and California.
His passion for craftsmanship developed in his grandfathers’ furniture workshop, where he created his first substantial pieces in his early teens.
With a successful academic career as an organic chemist Edward changed careers to continue and focus on his furniture making. He has trained with, and made for the prominent furniture maker David Savage where he also teaches a number of specialist short courses.
Edwards Brother works in the forestry industry, on occasions giving Edward the opportunity to select timber from a standing tree to sawn log before transforming it into a new piece of furniture
Edward makes all designs by hand out of his North Devon workshop, including one-off commissions alongside a range of studio pieces.
Visitors are welcome to the workshop, located a little outside Bideford by appointment on request.
